As the holiday season has been in full swing, so have loads of updates regarding our HO Scale Sunset Models/Golden Gate Depot Projects!
First off, The Golden Gate Depot Amtrak Viewliner II's
As these have been officially announced and licensed by Amtrak, the project is in full swing. Design will be a breeze since these have already been done in O scale so the bulk of CAD is already done and just needs to be re-sized to proper dimensions for HO Scale. Some of the notible changes between the HO and O Scale projects will be that in HO, the car ends will feature more prototypical details in the diaphragms, coupler boxes, and hoses and airlines. In O Scale, some of these details had to be forgone to allow proper operation in limited radius layouts but in HO Scale, we will be able to offer them with a minimum operating radius of 20-22 inches.
In addition, we at Third and Townsend Models, since our owner, Jay Escamilla is the HO Division Manager for Sunset Models/GGD, will be particpating in a Q&A Livestream event hosted by the Amtrak Modelers page on Facebook this Sunday at 6:15 PM EST. Below is the link to attend.
Second, The Golden Gate Depot Southern Pacific Interurban/Harriman 2.0 Project
CAD has been completed and approved for the 72-IC-1/2/ "Subs" and is currently under revision for the 72-C Harriman Coaches, 77-D Diners, 75-CS Lounges and 72-O Observations. Once approved, production will start immediately and a later 2025 delivery date can be expected.
Reservations will be closing soon for these coaches so make sure to finalize your orders as soon as possible. A cut-off date for reservations will be announced in the next few weeks.
As with all Sunset Models/Golden Gate Depot Projects, these will only be made to order and the only available ones will be from abandoned reservations so we cannot guarentee any additional cars will be available for purchase once they're delivered.
