The Florida East Coast Railway’s 141-Class 4-6-2 Pacifics were the backbone of passenger service along Florida’s rapidly developing east coast through the early and mid-20th century. Built by the American Locomotive Company, these semi-streamlined Pacifics hauled the FEC’s most prestigious trains — from the Havana Special to long strings of winter-season passenger traffic bound for Miami, Palm Beach, and the Keys.
Among them, FEC No. 148 stands out as one of the most famous surviving steam locomotives in America. After FEC service, 148 traveled through multiple owners, starred in movie productions, and eventually found new life in preservation. Today it operates under the U.S. Sugar / Sugar Express program, running excursions across southern Florida — a rare example of East Coast mainline steam brought back to full operation.
Now, Sunset Models / 3rd Rail proudly brings the 141-Class to O Scale in museum-grade brass, faithfully capturing their elegant lines, mechanical nuances, and distinct liveries across multiple eras and owners.
