Sunset Models 3rd Rail proudly introduces for the first time in O Scale, the General Electric P32AC-DM to O Scale for the very first time. Built by General Electric between 1995 and 1998, the P32AC-DM is a unique member of the Genesis locomotive family, designed specifically for Amtrak and Metro-North Railroad. Featuring the ability to operate as both a conventional diesel-electric locomotive and from 750-volt DC third-rail power, the P32AC-DM allows seamless operation into New York City's Grand Central Terminal without the need for locomotive changes.
Replacing the veteran FL9 fleet, the P32AC-DM ushered in a new era of passenger rail operations in the Northeast and remains a vital part of both Amtrak's Empire Corridor and Metro-North's Hudson and Harlem Line services.
