Sunset Models 3rd Rail “Iron Clad” Series
Norfolk & Western Class J 4-8-4
More than forty years after our previous HO and O Scale releases, the legendary Norfolk & Western Class J and J1 locomotives return to Sunset Models 3rd Rail, completely reimagined as premium brass-hybrid models.
Designed by Norfolk & Western engineers and constructed at the railroad’s Roanoke Shops, the Class J combined extraordinary power with the speed, balance, and reliability required for N&W’s demanding mountain territory. Fourteen locomotives, numbered 600–613, were built for service on premier passenger trains including the Powhatan Arrow, Pocahontas, Cavalier, Pelican, and Tennessean.
Although best remembered as passenger locomotives, the Js also entered freight service during the final years of N&W steam. Several operated with modified tenders carrying crew “doghouses,” creating one of the most unusual and visually distinctive versions of the class.

Prototypical details
• ERR Cruise is compatible with Legacy, DCS, TMCC, and Conventional control systems, Blunami is not and independently operated through the iPhone or Andriod Apps.
Smoke will not "puff" with Blunami, only constant for the time being...
