Norfolk & Western Unshrouded J1 Class 4-8-4
We are proud to announce this Norfolk & Western J Class for O Scale 2-Rail and 3-Rail in a new brass hybrid offering, produced in partnership with the Norfolk & Western Historical Society.
More than forty years after our previous HO and O Scale releases, the legendary Norfolk & Western Class J and J1 locomotives return to Sunset Models 3rd Rail, completely reimagined as premium brass-hybrid models.
Designed by Norfolk & Western engineers and constructed at the railroad’s Roanoke Shops, the Class J combined extraordinary power with the speed, balance, and reliability required for N&W’s demanding mountain territory. Fourteen locomotives, numbered 600–613, were built for service on premier passenger trains including the Powhatan Arrow, Pocahontas, Cavalier, Pelican, and Tennessean.
During World War II, locomotives 605–610 were completed without streamlining and classified J1. These imposing unshrouded locomotives exposed the machinery normally concealed beneath the J’s famous streamlined casing. After wartime restrictions ended, the J1s received streamlining and were reclassified as standard Class Js.

Prototypical details
• ERR Cruise is compatible with Legacy, DCS, TMCC, and Conventional control systems, Blunami is not and indepently operated through the iPhone or Andriod Apps.
Smoke will not "puff" with Blunami, only constant for the time being...
